About our candidate info

What Who’s Running covers. It lists the races on the Los Angeles County ballot for Palos Verdes Peninsula voters in the Tuesday, November 3, 2026 general election: PVPUSD board, Palos Verdes Library District, West Basin Water Division 1, LACCD trustees, State Senate 24, Assembly 66, U.S. House 36, and County Measures A and E. Statewide propositions, most judicial retention races, County Sheriff, and Superior Court races also appear on the ballot. We don’t cover them there.

Ballot designations. On the ballot, each candidate gets only a name and a short designation, such as “Retired Teacher.” We show that designation word for word from the official ballot. The ballot itself says nothing about a candidate’s plans.

Where priorities come from. We paraphrase priorities only from primary sources: campaign websites, official bios, candidate-written questionnaires (for example the Los Angeles Times voter guides and Ballotpedia’s candidate survey), official candidate statements in the LA County Voter Information Guide, official filings, and lavote.gov measure documents. Directories like Ballotpedia and the League of Women Voters help us find those sources. We don’t quote them as the candidate’s own words unless the candidate wrote the text.

“Not found” / “Unknown.” If we can’t find a website, stated priorities, or a prior office in any primary source, we say so. We never infer a platform. Before marking anything “Not found,” we search the web for the candidate’s name with the office and district, “[name] for [office],” and “[name] campaign,” and we check the county candidate list and LA County’s official candidate statements. The current entries were last re-checked October 5, 2026 (PT). If you know of a candidate site we missed, please tell us.

Sites we couldn’t open. When a campaign site was captcha-walled or unreachable on our check date, the card says so and the priorities come from the candidate’s LA Times questionnaire instead.

Student reviews. For candidates whose designation or bio shows a verified teaching job, the card has a collapsed “Student reviews” box with ratings from RateMyTeachers.com and RateMyProfessors.com. We include a profile only when the school and name match that teaching job. The format is the same for every educator, with no quotes or hand-picked comments. These ratings are anonymous student submissions on third-party sites. PV Informer has not verified them, and they are not endorsements.

Neutrality. PV Informer does not endorse candidates or measures, rank candidates, or tell anyone how to vote. The Measures A and E summaries come from the official ballot language, the charter amendment ordinance, and the County Counsel impartial analysis. Only text marked verbatim is official wording.

What each office does. Each race on Who’s Running opens with a short italic line explaining what that office controls. Those office explainers appear only on Who’s Running, not on this page.

Voting basics. The county began mailing vote-by-mail ballots no later than October 5, 2026. Qualified write-in candidate lists post closer to Election Day at lavote.gov.
